An engagement of Lord Shiva’s marriage with Ganga Devi will be held in Gangamata Temple Gangavali (near Gokarna) on the auspicious day of Gangashtami. Previous night Utsava of Lord Mahabaleshwara with it’s all traditional pomp and glory will start from Sri Mahabaleshwara Temple Gokarna.
The Utsava first take a bath, when Ganga will spring up in Gangavali river, that is called ‘Gangodbhava’ in Gangavali river near Gangamata Temple, then early in the morning will enter the Temple of Gangamata. The engagement will take place in front of good number of devotees, who will devotionally hear the declaration of the marriage engagement.
